Who we are
Welcome! We're delighted to introduce you to ourselves! Jared and Michelle Doucet are the heart and hands behind Bayou Honey, a family-owned operation committed to producing the highest-quality local, raw honey in South Louisiana. Rooted in a deep respect for the land and its native flora, they work seasonally with the region’s wildflowers, swamps, and cypress-tangled waterways to bring pure, unprocessed honey from hive to jar.
Together, they oversee hive management and sustainable beekeeping practices, ensuring colony health and responsible harvesting methods. Michelle focuses on quality control, labeling, and sharing the story of their bees with customers at farmers’ markets and community events. Together they prioritize transparency, traceability, and minimal handling so every jar reflects the unique flavor of the bayou.
Their commitment goes beyond honey—Jared and Michelle advocate for pollinator habitat preservation, support local growers, and mentor beginning beekeepers. Jared is a certified mentor with Hives for Heroes Louisiana. Whether you’re drizzling their honey on biscuits, stirring it into coffee, or using it in recipes, Bayou Honey represents a labor of love: small-batch, raw, and undeniably South Louisiana.
